Framework Homeownership LLC was founded in 2012 by two nonprofit leaders in homeownership, both HUD-approved housing counseling intermediaries. Our flagship product, the Framework online homebuyer course was created by The Minnesota Homeownership Center and Housing Partnership Network to provide a comprehensive, unbiased guide to smart homeownership. It’s the information you need to be a smart, confident, and successful homeowner. Studies indicate that people who complete a homebuyer education course are less likely to go into foreclosure. You learn all about the steps involved in purchasing a home, the mortgage process, the impact of credit, the true cost of ownership, and much more.
Many first-time homebuyer programs and lending products require homebuyer education to qualify. If you're looking to fulfill a homebuyer education requirement for a state or local program, down payment assistance program, Federal Home Loan Bank, Housing Finance Agency, Credit Union, lender, or other program, Framework's online homebuyer course meets HUD guidelines and exceeds the National Industry Standards for Homeownership Education. Framework's online homebuyer course is accepted by many. Always check with your lender or housing counselor first, to confirm that online homebuyer education is accepted.
Our online homebuyer course is the most comprehensive of its kind. It meets HUD guidelines and exceeds National Industry Standards for Homeownership Education and Counseling, which means it's accepted by most local and national mortgage products and first-time homebuyer incentives that require education. It includes seven interactive, online lessons that have been designed for you to navigate easily on your desktop, tablet, or mobile device.

Most people complete our online homebuyer course in just 4 to 6 hours. We designed it to allow you to go at your own pace. There are seven lessons, with three to four topics in each. You can exit and return to the course at any time. Your place will be saved topic by topic, but your progress won't reflect a change until the entire lesson is completed. Quizzes must be completed in one sitting for the progress to save and your overall score to reflect the result.
Framework's online homebuyer education course meets all HUD (Department of Housing and Urban Development) Housing Counseling Program requirements for homebuyer education. It also exceeds the National Industry Standards for Homeownership Education and Counseling, which are drawn from both HUD standards and those used by local, regional, and national housing counseling organizations.

Registration doesn't expire, and you can refer back to the course as often as you like.
You'll pay for the course during the registration process. A credit card will be required. Framework accepts Visa and MasterCard only. Please contact Customer Service for additional support if needed.
Coupons are generally available through lenders, real estate agents, and local housing counseling organizations who either partner with or purchase coupons from Framework for their clients. Framework does not offer refunds. All sales are final except in the case of processing error. You sure do. You can download your certificate once you complete all seven lessons with an overall score of at least 80%. Don't forget to take the feedback survey—it's required. We recommend saving and/or printing your certificate once you complete the course. And go ahead, hang it on the fridge while you're at it!
Your certificate of completion proves that you have successfully completed the online homebuyer course. Many first-time homebuyer and other affordable loans, as well as down payment assistance programs require proof of homebuyer education. Many accept online courses; check with yours to be sure. Bonus: you can hang it on your refrigerator when you finally close on your new home!
Congrats! Sounds like you're almost there. You can access and download your certificate by clicking on the View button on the Certificate of Completion lesson card. Your certificate should open in a new tab, and then you can save or print it. You'll need to take the Feedback Survey before the View button will activate. The survey is quick, and is required to complete the course. Once completed, the View button will activate and you can access your certificate.
Don't worry, you've still got options. If you've taken all three attempts in each lesson and do not receive an overall score of at least 80%, you'll need to complete an Educational Review to receive your certificate. Educational Reviews are completed over the phone and take about 30 minutes. Appointments are generally available within one business day, and there is no extra cost for this service. Educational reviews are offered in any language. Simply contact Framework Customer Service to schedule your review.
It’s smart to check in with a professional before any big financial decision, and when you invest in a home, that pro is a homeownership advisor (also known as a housing counselor). Homeownership advisors work for non-profit or government agencies. They offer low-cost or free, confidential advice before, during, and after your home purchase. Homeownership advisors can help you work on credit issues, find down payment assistance programs, understand the terms of your loan, determine whether it's time to refinance, and much more.
Some counseling and advising agencies do charge a fee, others offer the service at no cost. We recommend that you check before scheduling your appointment. Fees for homeownership advising services are typically very reasonable, always confidential, and in most cases invaluable. If you decide to review your credit report with your advisor, you may be charged for the cost of the report. By law, it shouldn't be more than $12.
